Let the instruments own their space!
When it comes to low end, assign instruments their own space. In other words, let the Kick Drum OWN 100Hz; Let the bass guitar OWN 50Hz. That is their space!" "Kick drum: you get the punch (100Hz) in this song. Bass guitar, you get the rumble (50Hz)."
*NOTE: Please remember that I'm simply using that as an example. Many times, producers choose the opposite due to taste (meaning, the kick drum/808 could "own" 50Hz and bass guitar or synth could "own" 100Hz).

100Hz can also add warmth to a mix. Here is an example of a mixed track without 100Hz:
